DNC sparks local excitementRosie Powell was interviewed this week by a radio-show host, who asked why she wore a sticker and pin for Barack Obama and a pin for his former challenger, Hillary Clinton. "That represents unity," Powell said. Unity is this week's theme at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, said Powell, an Amarillo resident who's an alternate delegate. She left for the convention Sunday with her husband, Gentry, who's serving as a volunteer at the convention. The couple will watch Obama give his acceptance speech tonight, she said. "It has been electrifying," she said of the experience. "It's so encouraging and uplifting. Everyday I feel we're just coming together more and more."
